Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Lawyer Serving Hillsborough County

Have you wished that you could make your debts disappear? Have you wished that the bill collectors would give you just one day of peace? Have you come to the conclusion that you can't wish this away or work your way out of debt?

There Is Help. There Is A Solution.

I am Paul Petrillo, an experienced bankruptcy lawyer helping clients in Nashua and Manchester. I have helped people of all walks of life in the Merrimack Valley erase debts and "start fresh" through Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Though bankruptcy will not solve all your problems, it will provide immediate relief — financial, legal and emotional relief.

Many debts cannot be discharged and some people are not eligible. In a free consultation, I can discuss your debt relief options and address your concerns about bankruptcy.

Hillsborough County Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney

Chapter 7 discharge of debts, also known as straight bankruptcy or liquidation, wipes out unsecured debts such as:

  • Charge card and credit card debt
  • Medical bills and utility bills
  • Personal loans
  • Some judgments and back taxes
  • Mortgage arrears (if you are surrendering the house)

Other types of debts, such as student loans, child support, recent taxes or criminal fines, cannot be discharged in bankruptcy.

You could forfeit some assets in exchange for wiping out your debts, but most property is protected by the bankruptcy exemptions and the majority of my Chapter 7 clients do not lose anything.

Filing for Chapter 7 stops lawsuits, harassing phone calls and other creditor actions. Although Chapter 7 can buy you time, only Chapter 13 bankruptcy can save your home from foreclosure if your mortgage is in arrears. There are other reasons why you may need to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy instead of Chapter 7, which we can discuss when I sit down with you one on one.
