Is your spouse thinking about divorce?

On Behalf of | Apr 7, 2023 | Divorce |

Every relationship has its ups and downs, particularly those that are long-term. Overcoming obstacles can actually make a couple much stronger. That said, it isn’t always possible to do this.

Your relationship has been rocky for a while now and you have suspicions that your spouse wants to end things. How can you tell if your spouse is thinking about divorce? Here are some signs:

The chemistry has gone

You and your spouse are amicable but it feels like there is no romantic spark anymore. You live together, and it’s starting to feel like you are roommates rather than partners. There is a lack of intimacy and you no longer spend quality time together. If there’s no chemistry in the relationship, then it could be a sign that your spouse no longer wants to be there.

No sign of solutions

As stated, all couples have to overcome certain challenges. Recently, it seems like your spouse has had no interest in resolving conflicts. Issues that are left to fester tend to become worse and if both parties are unwilling to put effort into conflict resolution, the marriage could be in trouble.

Lack of trust

As a couple, you have always been open and honest about finances. Your earnings were shared and they all went toward maintaining the family home. Now, your spouse has become cagey about finances. They don’t want to talk to you about it and they are certainly not interested in sharing anymore. If there is no trust in terms of money, then it could be a sign that the marriage is beyond the point of repair.

If you suspect that a divorce is on the horizon then it’s time to think about protecting yourself. Seeking legal guidance will help ensure that you get a fair divorce settlement.
